Developing Group Childcare Provision - School Age
Guidance
The Department for Children and Young People in partnership with Childrens Playlink offers advice to those who are interested in developing childcare for children of school age or who wish to develop childcare to 'wrap around' nursery education sessions.
Consideration needs to be given by potential childcare providers to meeting the standards laid down by Ofsted and copies of those standards and associated guidance notes are available from the Children and Young People Information Service on 01454 868008.
Support
As well as advice offered by the Local Authority, Childrens Playlink could offer practical help and guidance to those who are thinking of developing new provision.
This includes:
- Advice on how to undertake market research
- Funding sources
- General support through the registration process with Ofsted
Funding
The Department for Children and Young People has some funding available to set group provision in areas of proven need.

Developing Group Childcare Provision - Pre-School Age
Guidance
The Department for Children and Young People is able to offer support to those wishing to develop childcare provision to children under school age and after school care. It has available copies of Ofsted registration requirements and Ofsted registration forms. The section holds regular briefing sessions (see below) for prospective nursery/after school/playgroup providers. At these meetings written guidance on how to meet the Ofsted standards is available along with information on agencies available to offer assistance, book lists etc.
