About the JAR The 2008 Joint Area Review (JAR) evaluated the way local services, taken together, contribute to the outcomes achieved by children and young people living in South Gloucestershire. It was a single co-ordinated inspection of all publicly funded services for children and young people in the local area. It replaced the separate inspections of local education authorities, social services, connexions and provision for 14-19 year olds. The JAR examined the leadership and management of services and the way they work together to support children and young people to: Be healthy Stay Safe Enjoy and achieve Make a positive contribution Achieve economic wellbeing   All partners who contribute to improving the lives of children and young people, including the voluntary and community sectors were covered in the review, as was the effectiveness of the arrangements for co-operating to improve outcomes. The review team for the JAR were multi-disciplinary and inspectors have knowledge of those services inspected.  The 2008 JAR took place at the same time as the Council’s Corporate Assessment, and the processes ran together wherever possible.
