Schools and youth centres across South Gloucestershire are to be provided with a new resource pack which aims to teach them about sex and relationships.
The ‘Sex Made Safer’ pack was developed by the South Gloucestershire Youth Forum, a group of 13-20 year olds, and funded by the Terrence Higgins Trust.

It includes a DVD which you young people wrote, starred in and filmed, activities they developed and ‘young people-friendly’ posters and leaflet.
They decided to produce the pack because they felt a lot of young people were learning about sex and relationships from their peers, personal experiences and the media and that these resources may not teach young people about the consequences of sex and the importance of sexual health.
The pack has proved popular with the young people who have seen it so far. A premiere attended by school nurses, youth workers and teachers has been held in Bradley Stoke.
Councillor Sheila Cook, executive member for children and young people, said: “It is so important that our young people are given accurate information about sex and relationships in a format that they will understand.
“I am delighted the Youth Forum decided to take on this project and am sure it will be a great success.”
