Structure of SGSCB Minimize

Structure of South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board

The Full Board

Chair: The Director of the Department for Children and Young People.

Supported by: All safeguarding board members as determined by statute and good practice reflecting local need.

Remit:

  • Coordinating inter agency safeguarding work
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of this work

In order to progress most effectively the work of the Board there are a number of sub groups which
include:

 

Training sub group

Chair: Safeguarding Business Manager
Supported by: Training and Development Manager and other Board and associated Members

Remit:

  • Develop and implement the SGSCB inter-agency training programme
  • Improve the quality of child protection work and inter-agency training by analysing need and the effectiveness of such training
  • Develop new training programmes in order to support new procedures or changes to such brought about by legislation
  • Centrally administer training programmes

Policy and Procedures sub group

Chair: Head of Severnvale Locality
Supported by: Agency representatives of the full Board, the Safeguarding Business Managers for both Children and Adults Social Care

Remit:

  • Developing and monitoring the Business Plan
  • Responding to national developments and making recommendations to SGSCB on required actions
  • Public and partner communication and partnership strategy
  • Leading on procedure and policy developments to improve inter agency practice


Secure Estates sub group

Chair: Manager of Vinney Green Secure Unit
Supported by: Safeguarding Managers from each Secure Establishment, the Youth Justice Board and the Safeguarding Business Manager

Remit:

  • Developing agreed protocols for referral,assessment and the provision of services to ensure that Children and Young People within the Secure Estate are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted
  • To review the effectiveness of this work and to share best practice

Quality Monitoring Group

Chair: Quality Assurance and Review Manager
Supported by: Other Agency Representatives from the full Board and the SGSCB Business Manager

Remit:

  • To ensure that there is agreement and understanding across agencies about the operational definition of thresholds for intervention.
  • To monitor the quality of inter-agency work and inform SGSCB of issues for training and policy development.
